Lead, Kindly Light
Lead, Kindly Light
About
Arrangement of the Christian Hymn "Lead Kindly Light" by Amy Gabbitas for Oboe, Clarinet in Bb and Bassoon. Digital product distributed by Robert Gabbitas Music. Published 2 September 2024.
From the arranger:
"Lead, Kindly Light" was inspired by the soundtrack for the musical "Hamilton" and the sounds of waves crashing on the breakers outside our Pt. Loma hotel room. My family listened to "Hamilton" on our drive to California. I was paying particular attention to composition techniques. Miranda used quite a few constant ostinatos - a repeated musical idea that never changes. Waves also create a constant, repeated sound. Pt. Loma is the home of a famous lighthouse that guided ships into the San Diego harbor for decades. All of these ideas mixed together to create this arrangement.
